Bedrock is a charity founded in Scotland in 2012.
We are based in Dunfermline, Fife and operate throughout Scotland wherever we believe we can have a positive impact. Our Board of Trustees meets every 6-8 weeks and our permanent staff do nothing short of inspiring work. Even if we say so ourselves!
Is of a society which collaborates with the aim of giving every child the opportunity to achieve their true potential.
is to connect people and organisations across sectors, inspiring them to make a positive difference to the lives of young and vulnerable children.
The Early Years, which covers from pre-birth to around five years old, is the most crucial period in child development. During this time, the experiences which babies have, define how their developing brains grow and impact on how they interact with the people around them for the rest of their lives.
There are many incredible services already running across the country which are dedicated to improving the lives of children and their families in the local community. This is not an easy task and requires a huge commitment of time and resources.
At the same time, many businesses have a wide range of resources, from employees, facilities, skills and contacts. They have a wealth of knowledge and a workforce that is keen to get involved in making a difference. Truth be told, very few people don't want to make a positive difference if they can.
We bring these groups together. Helping Early Years services do even more of what they do best, supporting parents and helping children receive the best possible foundations for life.
Meet the team who make this happen:
Kirsty is responsible for engaging and supporting business involvement with the Early Years projects which Bedrock offers. Her role also includes managing the day to day running of the charity.
Sandy is responsible for supporting our Early Years practitioners, helping them design and coordinate projects. Being part of a small team also requires helping with anything and everything else!
